The odometer and km/mph buttons on my Prius are not backlit. Should they be?

Nope. If this is your first Toyota, you'll quickly realise that Toyota (for North American models anyway) tend to leave a lot of switches without backlit illumination.

The basics are there - AUTO for any of the windows that are one-touch auto and the hazard lights. Sometimes the steering wheel audio controls are backlit but otherwise the power door locks, mirrors, rheostat, moonroof and so forth are left in the dark.

Now if you're a veteran Toyota owner, that's fine since everything is more or less in the EXACT same place in every Toyota car (the mirror sometimes moves from the door panel to the dashboard or vice versa) but otherwise, they're always in the exact same position.

Thanks. I also have a Sienna, but never noticed the unlit bits.

    Cheers,

Np. Check your Sienna. The same buttons on your Sienna are not illuminated and are most likely in the exact same position and the same setup as the Prius.

Are you sure? The hazard is the red triangle, no? that should be lit at night cause it's an "emergency" button if the situation arises.

Same for me. The three buttons all in a row ('07) do not light up: hazard, odo/trip, and mi/km. Just this evening I reached over to reset my trip odometer -- when I missed, I ended up turning on the hazards!

Hmm ok I'm not sure why yours aren't lit but mine is.

I had a Toyota MR2 Spyder.... and the window switches were not at the doors... like every car in the world.... but in the central panel, behind the shift knob!
