    Anyone over 300K miles? Local dealers have not seen this until my 2005 pegged at 299,999 rolled in, asking why. My car is great! Only repairs done are engine and inverter water pumps. Not much other work - spark plugs at 180K, oil every 8K, tires every 75K and headlights. No brake pads or rotors as I use braking gear to capture energy with a coast up to traffic lights. It has paid for itself in gas savings, I figure some $23K over driving my wife's sedan.

    Looking for a sponsor to help with new 2010 - 2011 Prius that can wrap advertising for a 325 mile per day round trip between Sacramento and Silicon Valley. Toyota Tech reps are welcome to contact me.

    Yes, I think there may be a problem here. In Canada the service schedule stops at 512,000km. It's like they don't expect it to last that long.:) But seriously, that would appear to be a major blunder if there is some inherent software defect that prevents the odometer showing 300,000 miles.

    Congrats. I remember reading certain newer Volkswagen models have the same design. Only they, the Volkswagen are said to restart to zero, which is much more useful, not to mention handy when reselling ,then simply being stuck on some number. Another reason to dislike electronic digital dashes.
    Maybe if enough of us complain,( I'm halfway there at 155k), Toyota will have a redesign they can reprogram the computer with.

    Edit- I recently hit the 299999 cap with my 'repaired' odometer from recent odometer recall work, was hoping this was also repaired, on my 04 ,it wasn't. May 2013

    I thought a couple of Vancouver taxis had exceeded that number.

    If there is a 300k odo limit, should be called out somewhere in the threads about the storm chaser whose Prius died of unnatural causes at 349,531.

    ======
    PS. Post #7 on the CMPG thread contains a photo of the odo at 310823.

    That sounds like a bug, not a feature. Have the dealer confirm this with Toyota.

    Cool! Is there a reference or web page about this somewhere?

    Thanks,

    Nope (the reference pages haven't been updated in a few years and the last was 500,000 km). Best you give the taxi company a call lol. Yellow Cabs in Vancouver, BC or Empress Taxi in Victoria, BC.

    Empress Taxi here in Victoria, I've seen 450,000 miles on a taxi.

    Are you converting from km? Surely a Canadian taxi would display km and not miles.

    So how do you compute your mileage then over 299,999? Use the trip computers?

    Wow, I came to search this forum because my 2005 Prius odometer is stuck at 299,999 also! I thought it was going to roll over to 300,000 yesterday and I was waiting to take a picture of it, but it stayed at 299,999. I have never had any repairs except to replace a serpentine belt and oil plug. They put a new water pump in for me because of a recall and I change the oil every 5000 miles. I love my car! It works great still but I'm concerned that now I won't know my accurate mileage. Did you find a way to fix your problem?
