They all look like the same Rims to me.

    1) Without Trim Rings

    2) With Trim Rings

    3) Chromed.

edit: you are right. I didn't know that it was a "trim ring"

I'm really feeling the chrome ones....

    Are they 15" or 16"?

I think 1 and 2 are the same, though. The trim rings seem to be the difference.

I damaged a trim ring pretty severely trying to park next to a damaged piece of curbing. In the process of replacing it (~US$45) I noticed that the wheels actually look pretty good (arguably better) without the trim rings.

If I ever wreck another one, I'm just going to remove them all. I've heard speculation that this will affect mileage, but I can't believe it would be enough to matter.

I removed the trim rings from my rims about two months ago because I think the wheels just look better without, and in the meantime I have not noticed any decreased mpg because of it.

I agree with Tempus; they're all the same.

I removed my trim rings several months ago and have not seen any change in mileage.

Don't feel badly. Different rims are offered on the Japanese, European and Australian models of the Prius.

Let's hope the chromed wheel didn't = $1K non-optional markup by the dealer. Toyota of Orange does that last time I was there.

Also, isn't it nice that you scratched the protecting trim ring that costed you $45 instead of maybe replacing the rim which could be > $45?

I'm keeping my trim ring on. :)
