I read where oil is around $76/barrel. Guess what...some of the guys at work that were knocking me about buying a Toyota Prius are now starting to ask me questions. B)

    Funny how money talks.

Here is the link about the oil price increase.

I know the feeling, soon we will all think $3.00 a gallon is a good thing. If the Gulf get a hurricane this year, we could see $4.00 :( Sure glad I have this car

All of my calculations for "financial" justifications for getting my Prius were based on $2.50 per gallon. Now I am way ahead of the curve.

    ME--> :lol: --> --> --> --> BANK

My coworkers have a friendly bet that the price will hit $80 a barrel by the end of next week.

$78.12 appears to be the closing price.

Remember when it was only around $30 ...back in the time when people didn't know what the heck a hybrid was.

<blockquote>"Crude oil closed at a record $76.70 a barrel, and many oil traders were talking about crude hitting $80 soon. The hit for consumers: Another 20 cents a gallon at the gas pump."</blockquote>And more demand for Prii (along with increased smugness for current owners).

I think the $78.12 closing price is for after-hours trading.

The "average consumer" acceptance breaking point will be when my Dad starts asking me more details about my car. Get out the long underwear if he actually buys one.

I might steer him and Mom to the Hybrid Camry. The mileage isn't as good but it's more like a "regular car" and has heated leather seats that I know is a criteria of theirs. Only problem is the lack of trunk space. Then again, my Dad doesn't haul around golf clubs anymore. I'm sure I can make a case for "how often do you do blah blah?".

My sister would already love to own a Prius but can't afford one. She's carpooling to work now.

My brother teased me about buying a "golf cart" the first time he came to town after I bought it but was real interested in looking it over. I'm sure with gas approaching $4 a gallon he's a lot more receptive to a hybrid. He lives in Florida.

Given the instability of the Middle East, terrorism, etc. your co-workers (and the rest of us) may be wishing for $80/barrel in the near future!

With 3 more weeks to wait for my Prius to arrive I'm finding it harder to wait! :(

I also had someone call my baby a golf cart. I'll get my laugh eventually.

    Peace --

I believe oil closed at $77.03 today, down from a record of $78.40 earlier in the day. I heard talk on the radio (KNX1070 newsradio) this morning that gas prices could easly reach $4/gallon by summer's end.

If they hit $4 they won't stay for long. They have to come down in October for a few weeks before the elections. Then....they'll go up again.

We will be in $4 in 2007.
