My wife and I just purchased a used 2004 prius. We got the 2 black master keys and only one of them is recognized by the car. We changed the batteries and the one that didn't work still won't. Is there a way to reprogram it ourselves? We have the keyless entry FOB that you can stick into the ignition slot if you need to. Also the analog mechanical key will not unlock the door also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the one that doesn't work, have you changed the battery?

yes i did, i even tried a new one after reading that the battery might be dead in the store. The light blinks when i push the buttons, so the FOB has power.

That 2nd fob probably doesn't belong to the car, it won't start it and the metal key won't open the door.

You can self program that key to start the car, but you'll need to reseed the car to get it to have lock/unlock functions

Okay, the person we bought the Prius from, their son was selling a 2004 as well, we might have gotten his other key, thank you very much, i just didn't want to spend the high price to get it reprogrammed at the dealer if possible.
