I had the original 12V battery replaced at the dealer yesterday in my 2008 Prius with 192,103 miles. $280.79 for the battery, $14.39 for the battery protection pad, $60 labor. Battery price seems a bit much, but the old battery made it 13 years and 7 months. Since buying the car in September 2020 I've averaged 35.8 mpg, almost all driving short trips around town. Hoping to see improved mileage with the new battery.

Keep us in the loop, as many would be curious to know if you see a MPG improvement.

After the dealer 12v replacement, do you still have your old radio presets intact?

Congrats! The Toyota batteries are great, but they are pricey. Oft-times you can find a "coupon" on the dealer web site that brings the price down a bit.

Mine lasted just about seven years. Now on my second YAUSA battery

Red and green felt circles that go over the battery posts, some auto parts shops throw them in for free, others charge about $3 for such.

Oh, O.K. I use them, but I also spray the entire battery with some gunk NAPA sells.

Permatex Battery Protector & Sealer, 5-oz.

Will report back once I have traveled enough to get a read on it - I only drove about 1700 miles last year.

    Radio presets are gone.

Then they didn't plug in a separate 12v source when R+R'ing the 12v battery, and also means that the "fuel mapping" was reset as well.

You might want to clean up the MAF, throttle body, and butterfly valve, all of which are fairly simply DIY jobs.

Unfortunately, with those numbers, you may have purchased the wrong vehicle.
The first 5 minutes in a Gen 2 is the worst MPG, while the car is doing its warmup cycle. It'll be hard to see significant improvement.
1700 miles a year (about 33 miles a week) is likely not a good number for maintaining your 12v battery or HV battery in good condition.

I wanna say I am on my 3rd 12V battery, same 2008 with 193k. But maybe it is only my 2nd, I will check receipts, I now the first factory one did last a long time.

Where does one plug in the separate 12v power when replacing the 12v battery? Didn’t know one could do that to avoid losing data.

You can use the 12v socket in/near the center console, or clip on to the jump point under the hood.

So I can just put a trickle charger maintainer, at the front jump point?

There might be more improvement than you would expect because the marginal old battery would have made the car waste energy trying to keep it charged. (Much more so than a good battery starting at the same discharge voltage.)

33 miles a week is fine if that is one trip, but if it is many short trips then putting the 12V on a trickle charger might be a good idea.
