I am sure there have been several of these topics already created. I am looking at buying a Prius within the week. I am looking at either Package #2 or Package #5 and want to know what everyone got out of the dealer with? This would be best from CA residents but whoever can let me know it will at least ball park the prices. I just feel that some of these dealers may be pulling my leg a bit.

I don't live in CA, I live in FL but I just bought a Prius a few weeks ago.

I was quoted "$500 above invoice" at several dealerships which came to a base for a package 2 of $24000.

I found a local ad for $21600 and ended up getting it for that price. I also added a Auto dimming mirror w/ homelink for another $500.

    Hope this helps!

Wow, I was at the local Toyota dealer last weekend and to think you pay $20k for a fully loaded Corolla LE!! Just $2k more for a Prius is AMAZING. You get so much more car for that extra little bit of cash. The Prius is such a great deal and all other cars are so 20th Century Technology!!

I bought 1 last week in Maryland with package 4 for $24,568. I was planning to get a Corolla too, but after 2 Camrys, wanted something "funner" and got it! Very pleased so far at a 100 miles.

I purchased a 2007 Prius Package #2 for $25,000 OTD (out the door). In addition to the price, I purchased an extended warranty for 4yrs (I think) or 100,000 miles. Hope this helps.

    Hi Joelster,

I got mine last November, just after Thanksgiving from Piercey Toyota in San Jose. The out-the door price (which I think is what you originally asked for) was exactly $26,500 - that's the car, tax, license, etc. for driving away with a 2007 package 4. I used Costco and the purchase experience was the best I've ever had - no games and no BS for the first time buying a car from a dealership.

BTW, from what I've read in other threads here you might be able to do better now...let us know what happens.

    Cheers,

What does everyone think of 24,100 out the door (includes tax and license) for an 07 Prius with Package #2? That was an offer I was given today and I was thinking of pursuing.

Quite decent. That's about $300 better than I did at the end of February. Have you tried going even lower though with other dealers? Use that quote as bargaining chip. Hell, drop another couple hundred (or more) off the price and see if any dealers are willing to match it.

    Good luck!

I just bought my new 2007 Prius on the 14th - Package 5 - for $27500 out the door (license, taxes, surcharges, etc included). That made the list price just over $25000 (it was like $25104 or so). And it was barely about $250 or so above the dealer's invoice price.

What was really cool about this one was that they knew my wife and I had been looking around, and they were apparently just as tired as we were of haggling on price, so they came straight out and offered that price to us, no haggling to get there. It was EXACTLY what we were aiming for and prepared to haggle toward, but they saved us the time and effort. :)

In case anyone's interested, the dealership is Doxon Toyota in Auburn, WA. They have my recommendation at this point.

I think for a package two that's not too bad a deal. As has been mentioned previously one of the mistakes people make is not trying to do better...price around...or if you prefer just try and talk your dealer down. Get a number you can live with in your head and put it to them...the worst they can say is no deal....and 9 times out of 10 they will come back with a better number then you started with. Good Luck!

We paid more than MSRP in October last year for our 2007. But we wanted to buy from the dealer we bought from, and we didn't want to wait to get the car. We're so totally satisfied with it after 4,000 miles we have no regrets at all.

I just bought an '07 package 5 for $24,400. However, I insisted they apply my $2000.00 trade-in to the price of the car, rather than the final price of the car. This, in effect, lowered my taxes and registration fees by over $175.00 since the state sees that the car cost *only* $22,400. My OTD price was $26542.00 here in the San Jose area of CA.

In this Sunday's San Jose Mercury newspaper, there are at least two dealers offering '07 package 5 for $23988.

Well, yesterday, I purchased a grey Prius w/ package 1 for $21588 + $200 dealer fees(DOC fees)+ tax. I was really happy with the price. It was the last day of the month, so don't know if that was a factor or not!
