When we bought the Prius we declined whatever extra stuff the dealership tries to sell you at the signing.

What about the Paint sealent.... the claim is that the paint is not "cured till after it leaves the factory and
it need to be "sealed " for extra durability and to prevent color fade.
We have heard this pitch before and may have even gone for it in the past with other cars ( I really don't remember).
So the color of our car is red...is there any need to have it sealed or is that just a come on ??

BS, BS, BS. Do you really think that automanufacturers would allow a car to leave the factory if the paint wasn't cured? Dealers are such scum.

During the events leading up to the signing of the sales contract, we were regaled with the advantages of the dealers "paint sealant" which would protect the paint against acid rain (not much of a concern in this area), water stains and minor nicks. $675.

Talked with a couple of the guys at another Toyota shop, and they basically use Klasse All-in-One and Klasse Hard Coat. $ 43 for a bottle of each and elbow grease...

Keeping the car washed and waxed is the best way to protect the paint. Red will fade sooner as it is a fugitive color.

Tell the dealer you expect the car to be detailed with an excellent wax since you paid so much for the car and you will give them the excellent mark they are looking for on the toyota questionaire
