I am currently developing a laboratory for Walla Walla College that will study the interaction between fuel cells and batteries. I am interested in Panasonic EV's NiMH Prismatic Module because it is already being used in the Prius. In order to use these batteries as an example, I need to model them. This requires some information on their performance specifications. The information I need is: terminal voltage, internal resistance, and efficiency as a function of state of charge and temperature as well as state of charge as a function of temperature. Also, what charge configuration (constant voltage, constant current, or tapered) is recommended if any?

I would appreciate any leads that would help me obtain this information.

    Thanks!

If you don't get any information here, I'd suggest trying a Yahoo auto group called "Prius_Technical_Stuff".

    Hi Ken:

Do you know whether it is possibe to install/swap out the current Panasonic NiMh batteries in my new '05 Prius with a higher battery with a higher than the present 6.5Ah batteries without any modification to the electronics or software?

    Please Advise

    Hi Ken,
    I don't know.

Why don't you ask master Wayne Brown about it?

Ken: I went the to very incredible site in your post, however I could not find an email address or website for the Hon. Mr. Wayne Brown.

I also did a search on PriusChat and it came up with no hits.

    Thanks, KenYOregon

Oye! What code breaks thru yonder scanner window!!!

Perhaps I'll start with the ScanGauge. Any other place to get a good deal on a ScanGauge than the Mfgr's website?

The system is designed around the battery. If you change it, the control strategy won't work correctly; i.e., modifications you can't perform will be needed.
