    Parking Assist in US.

Apparently Toyota is going to offer the option in the US sometime soon.

    woot!

Actually. I think this is pretty cool, since it's probably better than I am at parallel parking.

Ah! There's the reason to have waited for the MY 2007, I guess! Pretty unlikely that it'll be an option we can add to non-equipped cars. $700 sounds like a freaking bargain! Suppose it was $700 pounds sterling?

Yeah, too bad the Prius can't be upgraded like a computer, like adding a camera by plugging it in and adding software.

That would be so cool if we could all do that.

I would love to get parking assist!

I wouldn't set high hopes. When they said it's coming to the US. They're right. What they didn't say is on which car. If you recall, it'll be offered on the 2007 Lexus LS460 luxury sedan that'll arrive at dealerships in September.

hmm, I just checked Toyota UK. O..M..G... £400 for that option?!?! That's a bargain! The bad thing is that you have to get the T Spirit model (with nav and bluetooth) to get the option.

I'm beginning to wonder if the reason this was left off of the US version is because of the RH vs LH drive. Japan and Britain both have RH drive, so it is easy to bring the Japanese feature to Britain. Perhaps the camera has to be relocated to the other side for the US? Hard to say.

Nope, for some reason, lots of cool stuff comes late to the US, and not just form Toyota. I guess they figure we are all happy with Sequoias (designed and built solely for the US market) and Camrys, and we all shop at Walmart.

I am actually miffed about the rear drums. EVERYONE else gets discs.
