Parking brake will not stay down

    Hi all, could not find any question like this but it must have happened to others...

    Our 2008 Prius parking brake pedal will not stay down. It engages the brakes OK, but it does not latch in the down position it just comes back up when released.

    We don't mind doing our own work, but I could not find any discussion of how to repair or replace the parking brake foot pedal mechanism... any pointers would be welcome!

    not sure i've ever heard of this problem. might be worth signing up for toyota tech info and seeing what the service manual has to say.
