    This from CNN:

I particularly enjoyed the following quote:

Dealership owner Dan Towbin said his big flag, which at 30 feet by 60 feet is about the size of a competition volleyball court, fits his dealership.

"The building's oversized, the sign's oversized, the cars are oversized," he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Oh yeah, guess which "cars" they sell?

The ones that encourage us to send money to terrorists, by way of OPEC?

It's my right --as an American-- to buy and consume whatever I can afford.

Preventing me from sending money to terrorists via OPEC is unpatriotic, and infringes upon my freedom as an individual.

    Your sarcasm is appreciated.

Any chance you could make some super-sized bumper stickers to that effect, to be plastered on Hummers?

    Ha!

That's what we should do... order bumper stickers that say

"I support Osama Bin Laden through OPEC by driving this car"

and then leave them on hummers we see parked :)

The cost is not merely the price. A friend remarked to me a year or two ago that some are predicting we only have thrity-five years of oil left at the present rate of consumption. Heck, it's not just gas-guzzling cars and trucks on the roads that concern me. If gasoline will be so scarce so soon, why are there still recreational vehicles like jet skis and snowmobiles? Should NASCAR look to OPEC for sponsorship?

The bumpersticker we came up with is:

    <div align="center">with a small penis</div>

    Please excuse the crude terminology.

I'd heard some people in Marin County were putting bumper stickers on SUVs that read:
    • I'm changing the environment.
      Ask me if I care.
I found this quote from the article about the dealership's large flag interesting:
    • "Gary Swanciger, a resident who said the flapping of the big flag wakes him at night, said he thought the super-sized Stars and Stripes was designed more to attract customers than build patriotism."
    According to the U. S. Code, Title 1, Chapter 4, section 6:
    • "It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness."
      (emphasis added)
If the neighbors don't like it now, wait until that huge flag is properly illuminated all night!

    • Actually it was I'm single handedly changing the environment - Ask me how

And we, uh, I mean people did it here in Sacramento too. Which by the way is perfectly legal as long as:

      1. you do not mar the finish

      2. obstruct the vision of the driver

It works best on a bike or skateboard to do this, if anyone is interested! :D

    Hi All,

Some Eco-group should take down the US flag and put up the Saudi-Arabia Flag instead.

Or, better yet, replace the flag with one of equal size that says, "Proud financial supporter of OPEC"

I hate to say it, but after spending 5 years of my life in Las Vegas, that would be the best thing to look at, period. Looking at all the casinos got really old really fast.

§ 176.(i)"The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever."

That flag had better be illuminated:
§ 174.(a)"It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness."
