    Bretheren and sistern,

    How does one rise through the ranks from Rookie, to Poster to Senior Poster to the the exalted level of being able to define oneself? (I'm sure Moderator is beyond the aspirations of mere mortals without state-issued certification or advanced degrees.) Have hackers found any way to cheat, the quickest and surest route to success in any field?

    It's sort of like joining the Masons or belt colors in karate.

    What fun! There might still be hope for all of us to rise to the top from our filthy squalor.

    This is what is possible being a Prian! Life is good and can get much better.

    I believe the thresholds are:

    <25 posts : Rookie Prius Poster
    25-100 posts : Prius Poster
    101-500 posts : Senior Prius Poster
    >500 posts: User-setable

    I wonder if those who are >500 posts can set their user type to "Moderator" . . . of course, they wouldn't get any special powers, but it'd at least be entertaining.

    I hate to burst your bubble, but it is not by number of posts. I'm at 294 (295 with this post - I think) and I'm a senior. I think it has to do with how long you've been registered with the board. I've been with the board for a couple of years, user #881

    No, I'm pretty sure it's by number of posts. Once you went past 100 posts you became Senior Poster. I'm member# 5,551 and registered over a year after you (April '05 vs March '04), but I'm way past you in the number of posts (a mere drop in the bucket compared to other posters). :)

    And this is post number 500 for me, so I'll have to think of a creative title for myself soon.

    Honestly, though, the number of posts means nothing more than how much free time you have on your hands! I prefer to make a few intelligent posts as opposed to a large number of useless posts (I'm looking in your direction, Random Word Association!). :lol:

    Hi Alnilam,

    I've actually seen some of your posts and thought about commenting about our shared stellar heritage. I had heard that (about the origin of the name "Betelgeuse") but was never sure that I actually believed it. However, coming from a (stellar) family member, I think I have to believe you. :D

    Now we just have to get Rigel, Mintaka, and Alnitak together and we can have a family reunion.

    Thanks, guys. I had to check my post 3 times to make sure I hadn't posted the "wrong" numbers. Even then, it took the posts from y'all (aaf709 and brandon) to convince myself I wasn't going crazy :)
