The dealer called (Mechanicsville Toyota, in Richmond, VA) this morning and said that my new Prius (silver, with package 6) will be ready to be picked up at 2 PM. Boy, am I excited. I am 56, and haven't had a new car for over 25 years, and beside that it is a Prius.

Congrats. Just placed my order yesterday for the same color and package. May I ask how long it took you to get it. The dealer have such a wide range it is almost impossible to tell these days.

If you have time, be sure to read and print out the info in This Taking Deliver Article. It could save you $1000 or more and prevent any confusion and make sure that everything is as it should be when you take delivery.

Be sure you don't pay full price for the Platinum Warranty that they'll push on you. You have 3 years/36k miles before you have to buy it and Danny can help you get one from this site for <$1000, MSRP is almost $1700.

Enjoy the car and the drive!

I ordered the car last Friday, April 1, and picked it up today. The 13 mile trip from the dealership back to my office resulted in gas milage of 49.1 mpg. Not bad for a new driver who hasn't learned to maximize gas mileage yet. On top of that I haven't had a chance to increase the psi on the tires to 40/38.

The Prius is GREAT fun to drive!
