I am currently living in Southern California but moving to New Mexico in a few weeks. I need a new car so I am considering buying the PiP here before I move.

Will there be any issues getting the CA credit or as long as I provide a CA proof of purchase and have a CA address to send the check to I should be ok?

How about federal? Any issues claiming this depending on where you live?

    • CA credit: you need to check the rules
    • Federal credit $2500 does not matter what state you live in
    • You will be moving to a non-CARB state so your Li battery warranty will be 8-yr 100k miles instead of 10-yr 150k miles. However, the fact you bought car in CA means it will be CA-certified vehcile, so if you ever move back to a CARB state you *might* still qualify for the longer warranty. Moving back to a CARB state is a gray area in the Toyota warranty, although seems to me other auto companies (FORD, etc) clearly say CARB hybrid warranty applies if you live in a CARB state and car is CA-certified. Some folks here say Toyota may disqualify CARB warranty coverage if the car ever was ever regisitered out-of-CARB state. In any case, as long as you stay in NM you are not CARB covered.

    Thanks for the info wjtracy.

One more question I have. Will I be able to easily get my car serviced in a state that doesn't sell the PiP?

    Is $29,500 + TTL + 0% APR a bad deal for a Blizzard Pearl?

Has ~$700 in accessories (including paint fee for Blizzard Pearl) and an 800$ destination charge and then they gave me $2000 off for using toyota financing.

Question...if you originally purchase and register the vehicle in a CARB then move to a non-CARB, do you really loose the 10yr/150k warranty? I only ask because I had previously considered this due to availability of the PIP and considered the CARB warranty as a payback for the hassle.

Pasaman we have online here DianneWhitmire who is Prius Chat Toyota salesperson in CA. Suggest you might want to call her. Check out her posts about availability.

Off hand I am not over excited but I am not tuned into 2013 CA prices which are higher (off course you then get $1500 off the top from CA incentive). I am thinking you just got a day or two for year end 2013 super deal, but also keep in mind Prii mfd 11/2013 or later address the small overlap crash test issue., and I wonder if any of these are out there yet, presumably 2014 models.

Seems a little high if you have yet to add TTL into that 29,500. I think mine was basically about 27,000 before TTL. (it was also 0%)

My understanding is first requirement is the car must be currently registered in CARB state. Second requirement is car must be CA-certified. Those of us in non-CARB are out of luck, but many seem to get favorable treatment from Toyota, so always be nice, and always ask if there is anything they can do to help on repair price. They will get back to you with offer.

Nonetheless I would view owning the CA_certified version as potential plus at resale time.

So you got 3000 off Msrp and even more if you had any accessories or destination charge included? That's an amazing deal. My deal was Msrp + ttl + accessories and destination charge - $2000 and 0%. Now I'm torn if I could get it for 3k cheaper.

Not sure what all the exact charges were for each thing. That's one way how the dealerships get you...all these little charges and add on's. It's important to just focus on the final number. Mine was right at $30k including TTL (with 0%).

I had to go to three dealers just to get the price as low as I did. I'm thinking I'm not going to get a deal as good as you.

Oh...whoops...should have informed you that I got mine on the east coast. I've heard there's been a little better deals on the east coast than the west.

I did get him to throw in all weather mats...

    Haha

I'm asking him if this is his rock bottom deal and I'll go from there.

Somebody always gets a better deal, enjoy your car and forget about what you paid, there is enough else in this world to drive us crazy. (Just a little philosophy from an old geezer).

I was curious so I checked my 2014 (purchased two weeks ago) and noticed it has a 11/2013 mfd date. Any idea if there is a way to check or confirm that I have the model with the fixed crash test issue? I've seen the 11/2013 date posted a few places on this forum but I'm not clear if it includes 11/2013 or only those AFTER 11/2013.

Thanks I was going to ask other 2014 owners to check but was afraid to.
I am thinking you are good but I am not sure either.

I bought a 2014 clear water blue base model with floor mats for $27 + TTL + 0% a week ago last Saturday. Considering the $4K in state rebate and federal tax credit, it's about the price of a regular prius (I paid $22.2 for my 2010 base model three years ago). Very happy with the car so far. Feels tighter and quieter than my 2010, and I'm averaging about 80mpg so far with about 200 miles.
