Play CD with MP3 format

    Prius gen III, model II: The radio will play CD with MP3 format which allows nearly 10 hours of play time with a single CD.

    Purchase CD recorded in MP3 format or use iTunes to burn your own CD from MP3 files purchased or recorded. Much easier than connecting the MP3 player to the radio.

    One nasty item with this radio, it comes on with a blast which often startals the driver and passengers. The radio should have a slow volume entry, like most luxury radios have.

    That's good that they now support DVD media, but surely at 128kbits/sec a DVD would provide about 75 hours of music?

    I normally listen to MP3 encoded speech at 32kbit/s and that means that CD media gives about 50 hours of playback.

    Pappyiii, most cars nowadays will play MP3 CD format.

    In some Prius's the CD player will recognise and play an MP3 DVD but will only handle 250 tracks.

    Yes, it is great. 2004 Prius started to play CDs with MP3 files.

    2006 you mean. 04-05 models had a cassette player + 6CD changer (JBL audio) or just a single-disc CD player.
