Just leased a new 2017 Prius Two a month ago. Just last week it developed this intermittent tapping noise on cold starts while braking downhill. It seems to be coming from the passenger side dash/window. It then goes away on its own. It's frustrating because it will not happen when the dealer mechanic is sitting in the car. Please help me figure this out, it did it again this morning. thanks

I listened to it like three times and I have no idea. Good luck getting it figured out.

First thing I'd check is the glove box, nothing moving about in there and is the damper secured. Next I'd go round pressing pieces of trim to see if I could replicate the noise, maybe the small window as well.
