I have a 2010 prius, well since I bought this car it has been a headache, first started with the car turning off on my wife while driving it was getting over heated I guess, I tested the water pump and it was not working, I replaced it, same thing started happening again and now the car does not even turn on, the dashboard nothing comes up either, I took the battery out and took it auto zone to test, battery was fine, when I put the fob close to the start button only the check engine light comes nothing else. I am running out of ideas, thanks.

    welcome!

if you can replace a water pump, you can check the battery. what is the voltage reading after it has been off for a few hours?

Thank you for the reply Bisco,
Unfortunately I do not have a battery reader but I took it to auto zone and the battery came out good, however they did tell me that it was low so I left it there and they recharged it but I plugged it back in and still same issue, could it be a fuse that got blown out?

The check engine light means there are trouble codes that can help narrow down the issue.
Some Prius codes cannot be read at auto zone and require dealer software to read.

I only took the battery to auto zone not the car, the car is non driving conditions at the moment. wild idea here but do you guys think the fob key has anything to do with it, it maybe ran out of battery and need to replace it.

does it light up when you press a button? if so, check the 12v connections, especially negative to ground.

Yea everything is plugged in correctly. All I could think of is a fuse or like you said the 12v connections is bad. I will check it when I get home. Thanks.

Does the interior light work? If it does not, then there is definitely an issue with the 12 volt system.

If the window does not go up, that indicates a 12 volt problem. We really need the trouble codes to narrow down the possibilities.
