it takes about 3 weeks to cross the ocean between japan and the west coast...

 

If your PiP left Japan on 3/26, it is probably close to, if not already, docking in Long Beach. If you know the name of the ship, you can go to the marine tracker site and if the ship is within 40 miles of shore, you can track it.

If the ship has already docked, it can take another week for your car to get to your dealership from the ship. It feels like it takes an awfully long time, I know! Deep breaths - you're still in the usual time frame.

 

Patience. It is at the port already from what your dealer told you about ship date. Some time early next week would be a good time to start looking for it at your dealer.

 

Did they (the dealer) tell you what boat its on ?

 

Wow. Congrats, and count yourself lucky. My car shipped well before yours--March 19th--yet is still sitting in Long Beach and, I'm told, probably will reach my dealer in Hollywood early next week.

To the OP, it sounds like your car was in the same shipment as mine.

Dianne told me today that she expects to see my PiP land sometime this week, though it has yet to hit the ground in Carson on 4/17.

So your car may well be on its way out of PORT purgatory as I type this.

All the things that have happened today, status change on Toyota's Prius website, dealer notification, etc. lead me to thinking that the final notification (car arrived in port) via Toyota's website may be triggered as cars go into "F" (freight) status.

I guess depending on where your car is in the stream - or maybe more accurately - where your dealer is in the delivery stream - it may get to your particular dealer sooner - or - later than other cars in the same group of cars that are all ready to be sent out to dealers.

I suspect that trucks travel to a dealer with full loads for that dealership rather than making stops at several dealerships. So if your dealer has a load of cars to be delivered, you might see yours sooner because the opportunity for a full truck headed to that dealer will be greater. Conversely, if your dealer only has a few cars in the stream that day, then you'll maybe end up waiting longer for enough cars to make a full load for your dealer's delivery stream.

Maybe someone who actually knows about all of this will chime in and let us know, but I'd laugh if delivery was determined by random chance.

 

My car was in port last sunday on easter. I received site update, as well as email. My dealer said id have it tosay… Today is over, and I have nothing.

from July 11 to JAN 12 no problem.
The last 8 weeks have been driving me crazy. I think my wife is going to throw me out!!!!

 

The last few days of the wait sure are the longest, aren't they!?!

Speaking of deliveries…

Padres are being schooled by the old school Jamie Moyer right now. He's got a shutout going into the 6th. In DENVER! At the age of 49!!!

Only 70 total pitches after 6 innings.

Could it be that the Advanced Pip's get shipped first? And the lowly Base Pip's get shipped last?

All I can tell you is another day, and no car.

I keep taking mine to the gas station, as I do not want to turn in a car with a full tank. I get 17-20 mi p/ gallon, and it cost over 60 to fill....

Base & Advanced get shipped at the same time. I have a Base and it was on the second ship to hit California.

 

I cant believe it...I just got the call, it is in.
Going to get it tomorrow @ 915 AM
