    The first thing they should do is drop an RX450h drive train, virtually intact, into the Cayman. Use Porsche's (VW?) obvious experience/expertise with DFI to raise the native/base compression to ~15:1 and downsize the 3.5L V6 accordingly.

    RWD mid-engine hybrid...WOW...!!

    Well maybe the boxer, H6, engine instead of the Toyota HSD V6. Since the H6 already has DFI and conversion to Atkinson cycle (domed pistons = 15:1 CR, revised intake camshaft timing for 12:1 efective CR) would probably be an easier matter.
