    Hi All -

Some of you might see some downtime for PriusChat over the next few days due to DNS changes I'll be making.

The easiest way to ensure that you get the optimal amount of PriusChat time over the next few days is to use OpenDNS on your home network. They typically propagate DNS changes the fastest.

OpenDNS > Home Network > Solutions

Okay, I don't get it. What, exactly, is OpenDNS and how much does it cost. If it costs nothing then what's the catch?

If you type in a URL wrong or the website does not exist the you get taken to the opendns page which is kind of like a google search. Thats how the make money. Thats the only catch. Check it out here http://guide.opendns.com/?url=fasdfdd.com

I have been using opendns for a few years now and have not had any problems.

But what does it do?? How do I use it. I've actually set this computer up to use it, but have no idea why I did it, what to expect, how to take advantage, etc.

Well if you setup your computer to use opendns then you don't have to do anything else. Just surf the net and enjoy the little faster internet browsing. If you want to use the advanced features like filtering the internet for your kids you will have to sign up for an account which I believe is still free.

Basically, they are the first to make DNS changes on the Internet, and they provide faster DNS propagation and translation, which means that when you type in priuschat.com it can point you to our actual ip address faster than anyone else.

    OpenDNS > > Global redundancy
    OpenDNS > > Global footprint

I look forward to the day when I can use it to piss off my kids by not allowing them to get on certain websites.

I read somewhere that they are making $20,000 a day just through the advertising they make off of people typing in bad domains and the search pages they produce. Crazy.

Not sure if any of you noticed, but the DNS changes went into effect overnight. No more downtime is expected.
