The pre-order by invite deadline has been extended. I guess too much uncertainty floating around. I know I am on the fence. Does anyone know if the 2010 electronic programing for the eco-mode has change to allow speeds greater than 33 mph in all-electric mode? This would make a big difference for those considering plug-in conversion at a later time.

don't u mean ev-mode? eco mode forces the engine to run at more efficient rpm ranges for parts of the accelerator pedal.

I take it then that emails only went out to those who have not pre-ordered yet but are eligible...

Why would you want to spend the extra money to do a plug-in conversion? Just wait another year for the factory delivered plug-in.

That is why I'm on the fence about upgrading to the '10! The most pressing reason is the market value of my existing '07 Prius. The longer I wait, the more I will have to pay out of pocket. I figure the Plug-in feature will add considerable cost and have a considerable waiting list and may be years away in coming!

I went to the website to order mine this morning before the Feb. 1 deadline and saw the date had been changed to Feb 16! Perhaps this was changed for those who have yet to order:confused:

FYI, and confirming what GadgetDad said, I was informed by the Prius Team that the pre-order deadline would be extended to February 16:

You should have an email if you are eligible. Invitees are sent a username and password along with a link to the site. There was a different site floating around where you could request to be invited to one of the preview events...it's around here somewhere.

I got the email BUT I couldn't be sure of what I am getting.
We want one as our second car to replace an 2003 Saturn Ion.
BUT want to make sure it has height adjustable seats!!
We also want to test drive it before making a final decision!
We are also wondering about any Tax Brakes that may be available??
Are The Tax brakes going to be better for an American Made ( Ford )??
Too much to consider before making a decision!

they all have height adj. seats. I dont think any test drive prior to ordering is possible. also, not aware of any federal tax breaks, maybe in your state though.

What critereon drives this exclusivity? What determines how certain individuals were offered a pre-order and not others? Is this an unfair process? Can someone shed some light?

    Thanks

As for the Tax Brakes, I figure with a new President who suggested better incentives to promote fuel efficiency that there would be tax brakes by mid year!

As for the test drive, Don't know if we will like the ride of the new design?

    Hi NYPrius1,

It won't tell you if there will be a new tax break nor will you be allowed a test drive, but why don't you see if you can get an invite to the live previewing of the 2010 Prius in New York City this Thursday, February 5 (6 to 9 pm)? There will be three 2010 Priuses there for you to check out.

Here's the thread started by Prius Team, which has a link in the initial post for you to request to attend the NYC preview:

Looks. It's entirely based on good looks. Those of us considered to possess well above ordinary good looks were selected. They did make an exception for Evan, but that's because he has a big camera. :D

What were you doing there then Tom?

Outgoing personalities and positive attitudes, particularly a demonstrated love and devotion to Toyota and Hybrids. A willingness to travel regardless of the weather and pioneer spirit in being the type of people willing to take a leap of faith into a new car without a test drive.

Yes, I too would very much like to get an invitation to pre-order. So if Toyota (Doug) is watching I would be delighted to take the place of any of the pre-chosen persons that do not desire to make a pre-order. Bob
