Does anyone know what causes this? The car is less than two weeks old and this ishappening.

Are you referring to the "ready" light when starting out? Or the hill holding feature? Not sure what green light are you looking for, and under what conditions are you expecting it?

(I am assuming READY, if not, ignore me)

The 12 volt battery does a CPU check of all systems and if all is well, it closes relays to allow the big battery online, then the 12 volt battery is done for the trip and can be recharged.

If the salespeople left your Prius PHV in Accessory mode, or off with doors open, or committed other stupidities with the 12 volt battery being drained while they yammered on in the showroom, then your 12 volt battery may be shot. Make them install a new one.

    Brake light switch?
Press brake a little harder, or have dealer check.

Probably a faulty switch in the brake assembly. The switch is there to, normally, make sure you are pressing the brake pedal when trying to make the car Ready. If the switch is faulty, the ECU thinks you aren't pressing the brake pedal and won't allow the car to go into Ready mode.

It's the green light on the power button. Sorry I wasn't clear earlier.

When I press the break the green led does not light up.

ECU = electronic control unit, AKA a computer chip or module. There are many ECU modules in all modern cars to control and monitor the functions throughout the vehicle.

We have to reset it by doing the 15sechold on the power button...

I hear there was a ecu recall recently. I purchase the car next than two weeks ago. Would they be selling the vehicle without the software update? I'll bring it into the shop on Wednesday.

Negative, all vehicles on the dealer lot have to have the new software update prior to sale.

When you press on the brake there is a green light just above the word "POWER" in the power button that should go on. Is that what is not happening?
