I think the J.D. Power Toyota Prius Buyer Demographic Stats are quite interesting.

Just look at the demographic shift from 2006 to 2007:

    2006

    Vehicle Demand: Low

    Ages 16-35: 20%
    Ages 36-55: 20%
    Ages 56+: 60%

    Female: 50%
    Male: 50%

    2007

    Vehicle Demand: High

    Ages 16-35: 17%
    Ages 36-55: 46%
    Ages 56+: 37%

    Female: 39%
    Male: 61%

    Huh--wild!!

I guess in '07 the good word got out to all the yuppie fellers! :D

I'm impressed with the 50-50 split in '06. I guess the word got out about the Pri's chick magnet status in '07. :p
(I believe this can be attributed to the introduction of Magnetic Gray and its undeniable attraction)

How are they defining vehicle demand?

Low in 2006 before production was ramped up?

If the answers to your questions are on J.D. Power's site, they must be deep in the details!

I think it's the quality of "dudes" that is different.
Being a bit of a techy nerd, I find that the techy nerds I know are all aflutter over my car...
... heck, even my BOSS is thinking of getting a Hybrid Camry!

2007 isn't over yet, so the numbers could revert back to their 2006 levels by the end of the year. There are seasonal variances that need to be taken into consideration. At best, this information is interesting. I wouldn't put much value into though, becuase it is incomplete.

Variances such as "older people and women buy their cars in the Fall/Winter"? lol. j/k. We all know numbers are just numbers.

True though, it will be more interesting to see this year's number at the end compared to last year's.

Well, maybe all the smart guys have already bought a Prius. You need to meet them at a Prius club of some kind. I'm not opinionated mind you. :p

Gas was high but It kinda stayed the same for awhile. The word about next summer at $4.00/gallon probaby produced the high demand.
Why do you think I'm rollin a pri?
