It is great that this car is loaded with the best gadgets and technology. There are two things I wish they included.

    1. Auto Headlights - This is standards on many cars, why not available for Prius. Is there a mod or kit that I can install or have installed?

    2. Auto folding side mirrors. In Japan this is standard, so I'll try to find them via the JDM. It would be cool to have my mirrors fold in whenever I park, and fold out whenever I turn the car on. Also very practical for the city and tight parking spaces.

If you know where I can acquire these upgrades, pls let me know.

    Thanks

    Steve

Well, auto headlights we sort of have - you may or may not know that you can leave the lights on all the time and when you shut the vehicle off they turn off. So I guess that they are auto-off, but always on. Not exactly the same, but it still works.

For both you may want to check with Sigma

Let us know what you find!

The folding side mirrors would be cool, but what I want (that the Japanese market has and we don't) is the side signal mirrors. To me that is a tremendous safety feature. I want those in my 2009. Throw in the folding thing too.

Actually, they shut off when you open the driver's side door, which works fine for me. You just have to remember that if you open the passenger door to turn the power on and then shut it off, the headlights won't automatically turn off when you re-open the passenger door (or if you left it open during your power-on errand).

I noticed what appears to be an auto headlight sensor on the drivers side dash up close to the windshield where the reg sticker would go. any chance the hardwiring is there?

A quick guess, but that is the GPS sensor. At least I think it is on my '05 Prius.

It's the climate control temperature sensor.

The missing "blank" is where our auto headlight sensor would be.
