    Hello =)

Six days ago i got my new 2009 prius, so far i love it, compared to my old car it feels really smooth, anyway... I've been reading the forums for a few months now and i actually made up my mind about buying the prius because of the information you guys post here.
The prius i have is the japanese version, i was wondering what are the differences between the japanese version and the us version? So far i know mine has the EV botton, the little side led lights, and the protection on the door frame. Is there any other difference?

    Thanks! :)

The Gen2 Prius doesn't have HUD in any countries.
You're correct that the 2006-2009 JP Prius has the HDD NAV option and the 2004-2005 one was DVD NAV.

Whoops, I was assuming 2009 meant gen III in Japan. I guess I guessed wrong!

You're correct we never call Gen3 as 2010 Prius in Japan.
The OP wrote it has EV button (different from the US version), so I assume it is Gen2.
Also, this place is Gen2 forum. :)

    That's right!
    The cold weather package includes...
    - rear fog lights
    - PTC heater (no PTC heater on the standard model)
    - heated side mirrors
    - window de-icer
    - 50% LLC (30% standard)

I have heated side mirrors, rear window de-icer and both front and rear fog lights on my European Prius. Does it mean I have the cold wheather package? I am not sure about the other things you mentioned, please could you tell how do I determine? Also, could you please explain what is PTC and LLC :)? I am not sure about those :).

    Thanks!

PTC is positive temperature coefficient, and is a fancy name for the two electric heating elements that supplement the cabin heater core.

LLC is the Toyota red long life coolant, I think. Not sure why a 30% blend is offered in Japan.

In the US, 50% blend of pink SLLC (super long life coolant) and distilled water is the standard offering. In general, 40% antifreeze is deemed the minimum necessary to ensure corrosion protection.

Every country has different packages. I don't know the European packages.
By the way, the window de-icer in the JP cold weather package is for front window. It is located at the bottom near front window wipers.

Both Gen II and Gen III Prius come with 45 liter or 11.9 gallon tank worldwide.
But, the Gen II NA Prius has a bladder.

Could someone elaborate on the differences of the door trim in the Japanese version? Is this something I can buy and add to the US car?

You guys are forgetting the most important feature:

The Japanese Prius transforms into a mini-gundam mobile suit :D
