Recently my keyless remote was wiped with wet paper towel to get rid of some detergent the fell on it. Since then the alarm has been tripping for no good reason. The only way the alarm stops is when i open the car with my key and put the remote in the keyless remote holder. Can anyone advice what the issue is and how to fix it?

Sounds like some water got into the remote and is causing problems. You can try taking the remote apart (like changing the battery) and use a hair dryer on low heat setting to dry out the circuit board and buttons. Then reassemble everything carefully, making sure none of the buttons are being pressed down by a misaligned case.

Deliberate work the alarm a few times, that may fix it.

I agree. Take the remote apart and clean out the detergent and water. Reassemble. Just like you would do to a tv remote that got something spilled on it.
