Prius Not Shifting into Maintenance Mode?

    Hello all,

    So I've been trying to get the car into maintenance mode, and I've been having issues- I press the power button twice, and it all seems to go as normal, except on the shifting indicator up top no gear is highlighted. I'll depress the gas pedal twice, then depress the brake, and as soon as I go to shift it into neutral, I get a warning about a problem with the "P" lock mechanism. If I continue the sequence, the car will go into 'Ready' mode with no issues, however it will be the standard 'Ready' mode, not maintenance (I've made a video of the process).

    What could be the problem, and is there any way to fix it without having to go to the dealer?
