    they say their car has 30k, and they just got it. I would be very concerned. what do you all think?

    I am disturbed that this battery looks like this, It makes me want to warn him that his car is in danger of blowing up or someone getting an electric shock. What do you all think?

    The damage does not look deep enough to affect the battery. Interestingly, it appears as though salt had been spilled and left there. I would consider the possibility of corrosion due to hydrogen gas. I don't know if the traction battery off-gases, but the 12V battery certainly will. It would not hurt to check and make sure your 12V battery is vented correctly. Is the rubber hose attached to the battery's vent connection, and is the hose routed to outside the car? Hydrogen can be very corrosive, particularly in the presence of moisture or humidity.

    if there's no corrosion inside, it's fine

    Could just as likely be due to someone spilling something in the trunk area and it settled there.Unfortunately, all I can see is the small version of the photo. Clicking on it merely results in an error for me.
