Next thursday there is going to be a Prius Parade in St Paul followed by a brief conference at the capital. The event's aim is to hold Toyota accountable for its opposition to higher fuel efficiency standards in the US. If you'd like to express your happiness with your Prius but also fight for higher nationwide fuel efficiency standards, please come out on Oct 18th.
For more information about this event please contact the organizer:

Wish I could be there, MN just a tad too far way for a trick Back & Forth from Montreal within a day.
The Great Lakes cause me a big detour.

For anyone who wants to check it out, the parade is beginning at 10:30 am on the Upper Mall of the State Capital.

Thanks for sending Toyota the letter. Every bit helps, especially since it sounds like they're activating their PR machinery from what I've read on other boards

    What about smog?

I'd hate to see the market flooded with high-mileage, high-polluting vehicles.

We already have some hybrids with disappointing emission ratings.

Is that what usually happens when mileage increases? I don't really know a lot about the science behind it. Like I said, we're trying to get Toyota to stop fighting a respectable raise in CAFE standards. To the best of my knowledge, there's nothing included in the legislation we're promoting pertaining to smog.

This event has been canceled due to the likelihood of rain. There will instead be a press call at 10:30am.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anybody

Unfortunately, yes. Emission equipment typically causes an efficiency plenty. So simply by easing up on the exhaust cleansing you can increase MPG. Even worse, you can switch to a dirtier fuel and/or combustion method.

That's what makes certain hybrids so appealing. They overcome those obstacles.
