2012-2015 Prius PHV: Custom PIDs for Torque Android App

    I used USB's method and Tested 2181. The value was changing, so I got a 2nd screenshot in case that would help. Also, I got responses for Power Resource IB and Power Resource VB. I think Power Resource VB, last time I logged, was giving a large number, like 230000, which you said couldnt be true.

    This is your commute speed along with the battery state of charge. Once the Power Resource VB is working, we can put the battery hp in the graph.

    There are a lot of stopping. No wonder your average speed is low.

    Thanks for posting that, USB. Yeah, its all city streets and lots of traffic lights. Surprisingly it only adds about 5 minutes to my old commute (which was a little farther to the freeway). I also noticed the reported speed is slower than the speedometer. This seems consistent with what was reported by andi1111 in the Plug-In forum.

    I logged again this morning and Power Resource VB was still showing the 6-digit number (~233000-210000 or so). I added RPM to the logging for today and also switched vehicle speed to MPH.

    The engine came on again at about 83.9% SoC while going down hill with regen. It stayed on for a full 5 minutes. I think I need to lead foot it out of the neighborhood before I start my downhill descent. These warm ups are killing my MPG :D

    You can brake harder and force the friction pad to kick in.

    Taking your advice, I was harder on the brakes, reducing the amount of regen and increasing the amount of friction braking. It looks like I regen'ed up to 83.5% so the ICE didnt start like it did the past 2 days.

    Power Resource VB is also working. I think when I cleared out the old PID list, I didnt delete the displayed PIDs so the Power Resource VB was screwed up. I cleared out the list last night and deleted the VB display and re-added it and its working now.

    Pretty uneventful drive today, although it took a bit longer than normal (more school traffic on Wednesday).

    Battery Power and Traction Motor - The difference is due to the losses from motor, power inverter and the battery. I thought the losses are pretty low.

    Speed and PHV Battery Power - For your driving pattern rarely exceeding 40 mph, you rarely use more than 30 hp from the battery.

    State of Charge and PHV Battery Power - This is as expected. SOC dips when the battery is providing power and raises when you regen brake.

    Thanks for putting the data into graphs, USB. Looking at the MPH/Battery graph, my morning commute looks rather painful.. so much stop and go from traffic lights. Although, today seemed especially bad.

    I wonder if this has anything to do with the 124 miles cycle?

    Thanks for testing! You can also counter check with VLB, VL-Voltage before Boosting. Both should be about the same, maybe a few volts apart.

    I don't think it's the "124 mile startup". My drive to work is about 13.4 miles, all EV. But my drive home requires about 1-1.5 miles of gas. So I don't have 124 miles of pure EV, unfortunately.

    Vincent, any idea how to get those kWh charged or consumed that the MID displays?

    It would be great if that can be logged.

    In the prototype, any PIDs related to battery external charging can be found at 2176, 217A & 217E. In the production unit, all these PIDs are blank according to Tracksyde's PID Map. Could it be Sanyo battery uses it's own charger and thus with a dedicated ECU? No info at this moment.

    I also checked the prototype Repair Manual. There is no PID for measuring kWh, most likely derived from calculating other PIDs, something like MPG, km/L or L/100km.

    I don't know whether Torque can be run in AT MA mode (Monitor All). We could capture which ECU are communicating and tries to decode the msg. It is a shot in the dark but that is the only way I can think of.

    This sounds like the TorqueScan app that USB suggested?

    Is that right, USB?

    So when I had it installed on my G1, I thought it made everything super slow. I thought I read something about you trying it also and it didnt work or had problems?

    Torque app has a Telnet built into it. I have not used it yet but you should be able to type in "AT MA" in it.

    I tried this this morning and here are the responses I got:

    Using the Test, I tried the 3BA700 to disable all seat belt warnings. The response was:

    7C8037F3B78
    7C8027BA7

    I then Tested command 21A7 and got the following response:

    7C80361A700

    So it sounds like it worked? One thing I also noticed, after I got this response, I looked up at the MFD and it it said something like "Configuration Mode" or something about Configuration. I turned the car off and back on and it was gone. I didnt think to check to see if the seat belt warning was still working or if it did actually turn off. I will try that on my way home. But based on your post, it sounds like it was successful?

    Also, I tried just turning off the seat belt warning just for the driver, but when I tested command 3BA760, Torque responded with:

    7C8037F3B12

    So thats when I tried turning off all the seat belt warnings.

    Well, on the way home I just unbuckled my seat belt as a test and the light flashed but there was no chime/beeping. So I guess it worked.

    There wasnt a menu or anything. It was displayed on the MFD, a box (same "outline box" as when the "Charge Complete" screen pops up), and inside the box it said something like "Configuration Mode". I think when I sent the "turn off seat belt reminder" code, it went into some kind of configuration mode. I didnt notice it though, not until I sent the SBB Query code, then I looked up and saw it on the MFD. I was a little freaked out by it, thats why I turned the car off :D. But I guess thats how its supposed to work.
