After just over a 120 day wait since we had to do a factory order (being in a non-carb region) we finally got our 2020 Prius Prime XLE Monday night !!!! :D

Now I understand that people in the carb states can usually get a better deal, but when you have to do a factory order in a non-carb state those deals are not available, but we are satisfied to have gotten a ZERO percent finance rate which helps make up for it, because back in January when we ordered the car it was looking like we would be doing good getting a 2.99% finance rate.

We did get the premium warranty and service plan too.

    Sales price: 30,647.00
    closing fee: 458.00
    IMF fee: 500.00
    License: 57.50

    Total cash price: 31,662.50

We put just over half down and financed the rest and will round up the monthly payment amount some and even throw in an additional payment occasionally to pay it off even faster.

We have the outdoor outlet real close to where we have it parked !

I'm more interested in seeing when the Prime 2.0 is going to come out.

With the RAV4 Prime coming out later this year and ramping up production in 2021, I think that car will siphon alot of sales from the Prius Prime because you get a much bigger battery along with great EV range AND the crossover utility with lots of cargo and passenger space. It will be exceptionally high selling vehicle IMO.

I'm sure Toyota is on it at the drawing board but I am hoping that the next generation Prime (maybe 2022-2023+?) will need to step up in EV-range with a larger battery AND not sacrafice too much in cargo space. Of course could be difficult to do given the ride height/chassis setup of the Prius....its lot easier to fit a bigger battery without sacraficing cargo/interior room in a crossover/small-SUV chassis like a RAV4.

Salamander_King (cool name), thank you for your very detailed response! I am close to buying a 2020 Prius Prime Limited from Massachusetts of all places. They have a $3,500 rebate and a $900 discount. I will update this thread once the deal is finalized and the car makes it to Illinois :)

Just one caution on buying a car in MA from out of state. MA does not issue a temporary license plate. If you plant to purchase it in MA and plan to drive the car right after the purchase, you will have to purchase and bring a temporally license plate and make sure that the car is insured before you can legally drive the car on a public road.

No. It is not a tax credit, like the Federal one. Also be sure to look at your electric utility for rebates. SCE had one when we bought ours.

I live in Norway so I got stung for almost $40,000 but I smile every time I silently glide past a petrol station as most of my driving each day is well under 60 kilometres.

If anyone is about to pull the trigger on one of these.. HOLD!!!! The 2021 was just announced and should be out within the next month or so.. you'll get a new model year and the rebates should be pushed over to it very soon. By having a new model year you're getting 2-4k of residual value by getting the current year model vs the old one. Plus there is some safety updates and android auto is now standard.

Interesting, wonder if they will now make an Android Auto update available to those of us who already own the 2020 Prime.

It should be noted the thread on here talking about it says only the LE will get Android Auto (reasons mentioned in the thread).

Wow, you'd think if they really wanted to they could make it so android auto would work on the other trims like the XLE, after all Apple CarPlay works on the 11.6' screen. Could it be they just don't want to be bother with the extra work ? No problem though, even though we can't hook our android phones up to our XLE we still have enough built-in features on the XLE that I don't see where being able to hook up our android phone would really offer that much more for us.

    Limited
Purchased July 17: From SW Virginia (drove to Maryland as it's a CARB state to Koon's Toyota of Annapolis)

Prius Prime Limited (Blizzard Pearl $425 upcharge) with All Weather Floor Liner/Cargo Liner Package ($259)

MSRP $35,439 plus $500 dealer processing fee

Total Cost (not including taxes): $32,000 (includes $2,000 Toyota cash rebate)

After $4,500 Federal tax credit: $27,500 plus taxes

Transaction done all online. I did a one-way rental with Budget for $50, in and out of dealer in less than 90 minutes. Absolutely love the car. 400 miles on odometer so far and I have burned less than 5 gallons of gas. I charge at work and it covers my round-trip commute plus 90% of my daily errands, so the Prime is a no brainer. I can top off the electrons at home if I need to with the included L1 charger.

I am looking into my electric company option of a free sub-meter to get their off-peak charge rate of $0.07 kWh.
