    Hello Everyone,

I am at 15,200 miles on my Prius (due for another oil change soon) and I was wondering how long people waited before having to change the stock tires on the Prius? How many miles? Also, since I am hitting my one year anniversary in April, how many of you chose to buy the extended warranty later on? And if so, how much did it cost?

    Kim :)

25,000 miles since new last Jan. 12. More than 50% tread left. I'll keep them probably till 40,000. 99% freeway, usually around 40 psi. Never had an alignment.

At 34,000 miles the tread of one tire failed and I changed them all. They would've been good for about 40,000 miles.

I replaced mine at 65K. Dealer was reluctant to replace them all, only felt one was due for change, but the other three still had some life left. Since I was trying to take advantage of their 'Tires for Life' and get them replaced for free (actually credited for an upgrade), they didn't want to replace sooner than they had to.

Wow, Tires For Life? That's an interesting promotion - did you get to chose what kind of tires? :) So far, the stock tires have worked fine for me. However, I haven't had the chance to drive in heavy snow or ice yet. I can't believe its mid january, and we are still reaching the low 60's sometimes!

we're almost at 25k and i'll be damned if our next biannual road trip up north is on these things.

of course, that means paying for something else so i may be damned after all. :p

i'm not impressed with tread wear.
