Obviously, the thief also took the Prius' key fob as well.

This raises the question as to whether the thief was keyless entry
knowledgeable before the theft. If not, there must have a very
    nerve wracking exchange:

"Lady, gimme the keys to the car...
"Goddamit, I said gimme the keys...
"This little box is the keys, and just how stupid do I look?
    "Lady, I'm really getting pissed..."
    etc.

Maybe the home invasion skumbag will join PC ... his first post, I can hear it now, "Hey, during my last 'drive' ... I only got 32mpg ... wuzup with that?!?"
    first response:
Welcome to PC mr. skumbag ~ first, when you steal a Prius, you need to plan your home invasion and bank jobs together, as short trips "KILL" mpg's. Perhaps if you can find a Prius that's plugged in next time, it may have a block heater ... you see, the EBH helps mileage that's normally affected the most . . . . .
