So I just put a deposit down on a Prius V 5 but I am not sure if it is really a 5 now. It does not have fog lights or the soft text seats. The dealer also listed as a 3 on two car websites but list it as a 5 on their site.

Unfortunately the vin appears to tell me nothing. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound like a 5 to me? I'd be seeking a 'do over' if I were you.

Did you actually see the car before you bought it? Try Googling the vin number. You might find that the original dealer pops up with an accurate description.

I have not bought anything. I put a deposit down. We were never actually in the market for a 5, so I don't know the nuances between it and a 3 besides rims, heated seats and fog lamps.
I can see someone opting for cloth seats
I did not measure the rims, and on their site they list them at 17"
I didnt think to check for fog lamps

My thinking on the subject is. The dealership has full control of their website but not the other websites, so if the car gets contested, there is no history of their listing but on the other websites, that is a history they cannot alter.

This is the second dealer I have seen that listed it as a 5 on their site and a three on every other site.

Are they all the same vin number.? I've found that they usually post the vin number on the listing. Ask your sales guy to fax you a copy of the "pre sale" report for that exact car. I got three of them today from my guy.
No matter how much you love the car, it's good to know exactly what you are buying.
Does it have LED headlights? That's only on the v5.

I did not look at the headlights, because I did not question it being a 5. Yes they all have the same vin.

They insisted it was a five. Until I challenged them on the tire size and fog lamps. Then they admitted it was a 3. By the way this is the THIRD dealer I have seen do this.

latest one was Hunzeker Ford in Preston ID

I ran into problems with this when I was shopping. I think some dealers confuse the "v" with the Roman numeral "V" and think it means "5". I actually think Toyota kind of goofed on this when they chose to call it the "Prius v" in the USA, instead of "Prius+" as they do in some other countries. It's just too confusing when they have previously used Roman numerals to indicate trim levels.
