Is there a Heads Up Display (HUD) included as standard equipment (or optional equipment) in the 2012 Prius v?

That's a shame. It would have been a great feature to have. Too bad they didn't bring it over from the Prius +.

I'm not certain why everyone likes this. Why do you all like this? I am curious. I look at the expense of this and the semantics and our already fragmented attention when we drive and play with smart phones.....

The only time I want a HUD in front of me, is so I can achieve target acquisition on the semi that's driving really slow , even for me, launch missiles and blow the slow debris over to the shoulder...... other than that, just showing the speed you are driving projected in space in front of you, not so much.

The most usefull feature I can see is having the SatNav directions projected onto the screen (UK T-Spirit model)!

It's because you can have the Hybrid System Indicator and speedo right in the line of sight. This leaves the 5" MID free for the Consumption Screen. It also shows navigation instructions under Route Guidance.

An advantage I can think of is those who have families. While the kids are sleeping in the back, the driver can turn off the voice prompts and just use the HUD to navigate home or back to the hotel.

I've driven a Corvette with the HUD and it's really nice. No need to take your eyes off the road. Full speed, engine and Nav guidance right in front of you. It's a safer technology than looking toward the center console.
