Hi - we were driving our Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) through Shenandoah National Park. On the way into the park, we used the B mode and it seemed to work fine (like driving in 2nd gear on a regular car). On the way out of the park, we used it again and it seemed to cause the engine to rev up alot and we were worried we were overheating the vehicle at times. Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks!

Yes, the harder you brake the faster it revs. The car will protect itself.

When you're pushing the gas pedal, D and B are identical. When braking, B will rev up the engine (without giving it fuel) to burn off speed, useful for going down long hills that fill the battery. So when its revving high, its actually cooling the engine.
