Moose center of gravity is at windshield level, not low bumper level.

Dont know about your state but if that happened in Ohio the dog owner would be responsible for the damage.

Yes, NYS is the same. Ins. company will do that I suppose.
It was a large German Sheperd, probably about 80-100 pounds.
In years gone by, before the Prius, I've hit a deer, some small birds, moles, rabbits. Never hit a cat or a dog - somebodies pet. It makes you feel terrible! I have a dog of my own and had to put down my first dog after 13 years. I know it hurts like heck to lose a pet. The fact that he should have been in a fenced yard or on a tie-out doesn't make it hurt any less.
    His name was Vincent.
I thought he way alive, and pulled over and then into a driveway. I called 911 to report the accident, but before I could tell the operator where I was a Deputy was already knocking on my driver's window. The Deputy told me he expired after the next three cars hit him. She was kind of right behind me and had just pulled him out of the road.
    Poor Vincent!
    :(

Sad really. Nobody was hurt and the car can be repaired, but the dog is probably some kids pet who'll be missing him tonight.

Who cares about the cost to repair the car. The greater sadness is a that one of the best canine breeds in the world, is now dead.

While most of the time technology is a wonderful thing, there are time when it really sucks.

If you should have the oportunity to take pics of your car with the bumper cover off, I would like to see them. No pics of the dog please.
