So I ordered the PriusChat sticker to put on my Thule fairing or maybe the back window. I received the sticker today in the mail, but when I got to peel the sticker backing off I was surprised to find that I would have to peel and stick every letter individually, and some of the letters were in more than one piece. And the sticky part is on the back of the letters so it goes on the outside of the window? One winter and those letters will be gone and it'll be spelling god knows what.

    Am I missing something here?

Vinyl lettering can be a little tricky if your not used to them. You have to peel the masking tape away just right so the letters stick to it. And as far as durability goes they will stay stuck to the car for a very long time as long as you cleaned the area really well. They should last the life of the car. Hope you get it on OK.

I got it to work, I looked online for general instructions on vinyl sticker application. Didn't know it was that kind of sticker. I'll put a photo up later.

I had a similar experience. First it took a month to receive it and then after peeling off the paper tape, the paper stuck to some of the letters. I had to carefully scrape off the little paper that stuck. I pressed it down and then found even more places where it didn't stick, had to pick off some more paper. Then I realized the dot had was still on the paper tape. I managed to get it off, and I do have to say it looks spiffy. I love priuschat.com. (But could you make a sticker that's easier to apply?)

This was exactly my experience! I would have been fine with a little slip of paper with instructions. It looks good on though!

I have two vinyl stickers on the short rear window. They've been there through a couple winters. Since snow doesn't sit there, I have no reason to scrape it.

But yeah, I can agree that applying vinyl can be tricky. For future reference, I found it best to remove the back at as sharp an angle as possible to keep the letters adhered to the face and then to apply and rub vigorously before removing the front paper.

But I know that Force has much more experience than I so whatever he says should be taken as fact.

You just have to be smarter than the sticker :p

. . . or as my dad always used to say (after I'd botch something because I'd failed to do the followng) "... when all else fails, read the directions"

Which, by the way, will clearly tell you to ONLY take the backing off ONE side. That reveals the glue-y side. Then you just press the whole sheet super firmly against the window . . . then you s-l-o-w-l-y pull the remaining sheet up.

    viola - as seen below.

these are a couple years old now
