I'm interested in using a ProClip left phone mount (as sold by PriusChat) in my 2012 Prius. However, I'm concerned that the mount and/or my phone could be ejected into my face or body by the curtain airbags in the event of an accident. Is the ProClip left mount out of the way of the curtain air bags or not? In general, what kinds of mounts are safe in the event of an accident?

The clip is barely forward of the driver's side air bag and if there's any contact with the air bag it's going to smash the phone in a downward and forward direction away from your face. But speaking of what's going to be ejected into your face and body, the airbags are going to punch you really, really hard in the face and in the body and in the side of the head and depending on the nature of the collision, it's highly likely to save your life or protect you from a life changing head injury.

Thanks for clarifying PriusCamper. It sounds like the phone would be knocked downward and hit me in the torso if at all. While it's not something that I like to think about, I understand and am grateful that the airbags would "punch" hard in the event of a collision to prevent my head from snapping into the dashboard like a ragdoll. I just want to make sure that there is nothing in between the airbags and my face when the airbags deploy. I got to thinking about this after seeing a post on PriusChat in which a person had mounted their phone on top of their steering wheel. Another member pointed out that mounting the phone on top of the steering wheel was a bad idea because if the airbags deployed, the phone would be rocketed into the driver's face.
