No but it is a slap at the lexus gs hybrid that gets worse mileage and less acceleration. When the Porsche 918 comes out it will be the speed demon and mileage champion that no one can afford.

So-called "performance hybrids" are for the birds. Why add the extra weight to get higher performance numbers? Perhaps in a straight line you can get a slight boost, but I would reduce the weight and add performance in another way. Lowering the weight would give you the added mileage of the hybrid system in any event. Now let's start talking about cornering....

Honda tried this business model (performance hybrid Accord) years ago and it was a dismal failure.

Not that it's a big deal but they used the 2nd Gen's numbers??

I thought the GS450h did 0-60 in 5.6 secs? (so add a few tenths for 100km/h), so it's pretty close to the M35h.

They're off by about a second. Whoops! - talk about a day late and a dollar short ... no wonder I couldn't find squat about Mitsu holding hybrid 0-60 best time.
    :p

Probably a few tenths of two very fast cars, nothing you would notice if you weren't driving them back to back. But the inifiniti does get 6mpg combined better fuel economy too.

That was my first thought, but they did say "full" hybrid and this is infiniti.

It's nice to see every car manufacturer going hybrid-crazy. I have seen comparisons with the Camry hybrid and the Lexus GS 450h. Powertrains for the Lexus GS 450h was developed for the 2006 MY and the Camry's for the 2007 MY.

I would like to know the mpg during the performance test of the 2012 M35h's 0-60, and the quarter mile runs. If you get speed without efficiency, What is the point!

A turbocharged, supercharged or a V8 is can also do this at low MPGs.

i dont think they would save a lot of weight by pairing it with smaller engine... what are we talking about here? Difference between 270hp V6 and 180hp 4cly in Venza is only 110lbs. And I bet even from that 110lbs, few also go to some standard equipment.

So you are not going to get some crazy mpg savings based on 3% weight save in smaller engine - in fact, you might get an adverse effect if user then tends to press gas more in lesser powered car.

So they chose to advertise them as performance, as cost to them is almost the same.

Thank you for posting the Euro cycle mileage info about the new GS 450h, one of my favorites. I initially thought that Lexus would develop a GS 350h using the 2.5 V6 in the IS and the ES 300h would get the 2.5 4 cyl of the HyCam.

    6.3l/100km info was released @ Frankfurt... I believe old GS450h did 7.9l/100km.
    Quite a change.

Well part of it was the change to the Atkinson cycle. The same drop was seen on the RX450h and HiHy midlife update when it switched to the 3.5 litre HSD setup.

So, what is the approximate combined US mileage for the GS 450h with a 6.3 Liters/km. When I use this calculator, I get: 37.34mpg. Thanks!
