    Hi PC,

Looking to Buy/Borrow/Rent a Prolong Battery Discharger for a 2008 Prius. Model # is PD-PR
If you, or someone you know in the LA area has one sitting on the shelf it would be much appreciated.

I've tried the light bulb discharger before which was a painfully slow and highly attentive experience
I just tried to use it again and had the same issue as last time - the multimeter does not read the voltage accurately in comparison to the voltage on the charger which is not safe for the battery considering one step in reconditioning is to discharge to 17v and if you are getting an inaccurate reading it could damage it.
Because the voltage was not displayed accurately I thought I was using the wrong setting on the multimeter so I switched the dial and blew the fuse in the harness (I should have read the instructions more carefully where they warn not to do this).

Anyhow, looking to have a smoother experience this time around

Sounds like you are doing this process now, but is there a timetable for use, or is it now?

I travel to Mickeys Funland the Monday after thanksgiving and could bring the Discharger with me and let you use it while I’m there if you get no other offers.

I am about to go thru this process. My battery is apart for checking and it looks good. I would want to rebalance and cycle it for preventative maintenance. Looking for a good way to discharge. Thinking of bulk discharging the pack to say 6.2v per pack and put on a RC hobby king balancer/charger/discharger for the rest of the way.

Where in Florida are you located?

There are members in Florida that might be able to assist that have the Prolong equipment (or are very knowledgeable on the process), like @jerrymildred , @edthefox5 and @TampaPrius.com .

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

There’s nothing like the East Bay of Tampa:whistle:?

But sounds Northern California-ish to me too(y).

Nope. We do say "Bay Area," but that's about the only similarity I can think of.

Since your in Concord, you’re in the right spot for help:).

There are several members here that share the Prolong equipment, and one of them lives in the Concord/ Walnut Creek Area ;).

If you start a conversation with @The Critic , @SFO and I, we could probably walk you through issues you are facing, or questions you have(y).

At this point, I found the issue, but in the process, I created a new one. One of my cells is now showing voltage on the bottom bolt connection where it attached to the case of the HV battery. This happened when I removed the batteries as I was going to relocate the center to the outer edges and recondition once they were in place. I reassembled but when torquing down the bolts I came back and saw it was now shorted.

I have several RC chargers coming in next week to add to the Dual charger I currently have. I should be able to recondition 6-8 battery cells at a time. Which since I am now having to replace one, I need to balance them pack anyway.
