A man charged with trying to help terrorists in Afghanistan has donated some $15,000 to the campaign committee of Republicans in the House of Representatives, and a resume in his name indicates various other links to the party.

Using Stev0's logic would lead one to the conclusion that demoncrats are communists and therefore they would also hate America. Wait a minute I think I’m on to something here. . .

Stev0 is parodying the Republican "logic" of guilt by association. You are using his parody to bolster that false "logic."

He better get better at it, I didn't read it that way. When you have developed a certain base personality on this board (as many of us including me have) you better make your meaning more clear, especially when being sarcastic.

Tee hee. Conservative logic dictates "That minor liberal figure thinks X, therefore ALL liberals think X". Just because Conservatives have to have the correct opinions on political matters (where "correct" is dictated by Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter), they assume the left wing operates the same way.

Well, you caught me, I do! I firmly believe because Rush Limbaugh is an oxycontin abuser, ALL conservatives are! And Mark Foley? I guess that means ALL Republicans regularly commit sexual harassment of young men! Condi Rice? ALL conservatives are black women, obviously!

(Note for Neocons and other thinking-impaired folk: The above post was also sarcasm.)

Excellent analysis...especially the first part. They don't realize there are many roads to Rome, only their hiway. To further your analysis, since junior can't put two thoughts together then no republican can, so your post went woosh, right over their heads. Rebutting the die hard neocons on this board is like shooting fish in a barrel. You can blow some of their brains out, but the rest keep swimming around in the same circle.

Parody is a difficult art, and the best satirists have always been vilified by people who failed to recognize their writings as satire. Jonathon Swift took a lot of heat for A Modest Proposal, and Mark Twain's Petrified Man was actually taken seriously by many. The list is endless. I thought Steve0's mini-parody was rather nice, but then it's bound to look different from the other side of the fence.

For my part, I have known too many nice Republicans to paint them all with one brush. Those I have known were good and kind people, who wanted the best for our country, but were deluded about the course that would lead us there.

    *Edited to add:* Democrats also.

Sad but not surprising you have to spell it out for the bush acolytes, but what else would you expect?

Democrats and Republicans are the same disease with a different face.

I'm sure it makes them warm and fuzzy when disillusioned people actually argue about which party is better. They're all buddy buddy, they're all crooked, and they all just want your money.

Like I said, it can be hard. Especially when you disagree strongly with someone, as you and I on most issues, and the other guy makes a joke, and you're all primed to get upset...
