When I plug in my iPod and set the audio to Aux, the volume on my MFD automatically jumps to something like 24, but the volume is still really soft. Then I have to increase either the car volume (to 24+) or the iPod volume.

When I switch back to FM, AM, or CD (Etc), however, the car volume goes back to what it originally was.

Why is the car volume displayed so high when I use the iPod though, and yet the volume is so soft? And even then I still need to jack up the volume? I can see how this could easily deplete my iPod battery.

Is this supposed to happen and are there any solutions?

I believe that the volume you set on aux is independant from the other volumes, for the good reason that different aux input devices can have very different outputs. So set the volume on your aux to what works with your ipod normal volume and it won't screw up your radio volume. It should be right where you left it next time you go to aux.
