Options AI, BC, and BG include a 9-speaker sound system with 6-disk CD changer, but the in-dash 6-disk CD changer is listed as a separate accessory. Does that mean the included sound system uses an external CD changer instead of an in-dash one (unless you also buy the in-dash one, of course)?

If you buy a package other than one including the 9-speaker JBL then you will need to buy the external 6 disk changer if you want that feature....I think that's what you mean...it installs in the lower slot in the 'stack', so it is 'in dash', but it is not a built in component of the basic stereo.

The deluxe package 6-disk changer is built into the unit and you still have that lower slot of the 'stack' empty.

Older add-on changers went in the console.

Like Evan said, the accessory one is an external AND in-dash CD Changer. It does not use cartridges.

I installed the 6 cd changer PART # 08601-47800 with wiring harness PART # 08695-00370 in my new 06 PKG 3 type 2 MFD. Everything seems to work and the MFD recognizes the changer, however, I cannot see the Disc# or Track # of the CD changer on the MFD. Is this the case or do I have defective MFD or cd changer.
