Question for those who have had the Starthole Cover Plate Fixed

    This morning I was in for my 40K service, and had the Transaxle fluid changed at the same time.

    I asked them to look at the infamous "Starthole" cover and see if mine was backwards. I took all the pictures and Manual Illustrations from this wunnerful board.

    They said:

    1) Yes, yours is like the picture of the 'backwards' one.

    2) No, we won't change it without directions from Toyota because we don't 'know' that it's backwards, and besides, it now is concave out and if you changed it it would be concave in and we don't know if that's right either. Get Toyota to tell us to change it and we will.

    So, has anyone had to go to Toyota to get them to verify that the plate is on backwards and authorize correction? If so who did you contact?

    I went to a dealer, and they pretty much said the same thing you mention. You can always call the Toyota Customer Experience hot line. I'm too busy to deal with all that. I'll probably let the guys do it during the local Prius meetups.
