That used to happen to be about once every few months in my 4Runner w/JBL. I always thought it was temp related (seemed to do it when it was really hot or really cold). If I turned the car off entirely... Then back on... It always went away.

Haha, this had happened to my car a few times (like 2 months), too.

The display will slowly fade away and gone completely while music is still playing normal. I tap the LCD, and it will come back (or just turn off/on). I was going to bring to dealer, but it has not happen since then.

You could try to bring to dealer if still under warranty. In my case, since it's not happening now, I don't think the dealer will take my words for it.

BTW, my audio system is with JBL also.

This is an old thread, but what happened with your radio? This is happening with my 2011 and the dealerships wants to charge me over $800.

$800? That's crazy. It happened to mine, I ignored it, and it eventually stopped. I would think you could just buy a new radio on ebay for around $150 and swap it out. I'm sure you can find videos on youtube showing you how too.
