Hi all, First the specs - 2016 Prius 3, has 198k on the clock. My recently purchased 2016 Prius has a rattle coming from the rear, mostly the rear driver's side. It's not the shock rattle, I have tightened both nuts and the noise associated with that went away. To help narrow things down it seems like there is almost a rattle when I strike the outside of the tire with my hand while it's parked but I'm not fully chalking it up to that. Anyone else deal with these rattles? Any insight? Worst case scenario I parts cannon and replace all the rear suspension at about $500 cost on RockAuto.
Remove all that plastic under-body coverings and clean out all those nook & crannies. Especially behind the wheel well n mud flap areas. Also check your rear door glass, if you don't roll your glass all the way up - they do rattle. I pulled out the felt window seal and laid a 2 mm rubber strip in the channel then reseated the window strip. No more rattle and the glass doesn't wiggle around anymore. Hope this helps....
