Bought a 2010 and selling a 2005 Prius myself, and having a tough time figuring out the right price. (68,000 miles, great condition, leather seats, no NAV). Not a bite at $14,600 or $14,200. Will go down to $13,800 next weekend. Seen prices from $11,000 to $15,000 for 2005s. Thoughts?

Not sure if this helps, but I got $12,200 in trade for my 05 with pkg 6 (NAV, etc.) no leather, with 52K miles. This was a little over two weeks ago. They put it on their lot for $14995 and it was gone in a day. Don't know what they actually got for it, but I assume the buyer negotiated some discount. I would assume $13,500 to $14,000 would be reasonable, at least here in Richmond, VA.

Maybe they don't want the aftermarket Sunroof.

For what its worth, we bought our '06 earlier this year with about 60K miles and every option, including NAV and leather, for $14,000. It was from a Beemer dealer in Portland, Or.

I traded my 2005 Prius with 46,000 miles and nearly bald original OEM tires, no NAV and no leather, for $12,250 at the dealer. Got a 2010 Prius IV with leather and no NAV and am thrilled with it.

BTW, I went to the dealer with the mindset that I wanted $12,000 for the car. So negotiating an extra $250 was kind of a bonus. I did counter with $13,000 and they laughed at me. And I couldn't get them to budge to $12,500. Basically at that point they said take the $12,250 or leave it...they would be happy to sell the vehicle to someone else. Needless to say I took the deal.

My wife was pretty perturbed with me. She said "you would be happy with $12,000 for your old car and you got it, so why are you disappointed you didnt' get more?" I replied with, "well it's all part of the game...and since they started with $12,000, I then wanted even more".

That is how it works, isn't it?
