Well... reached the "magical" 60 MPG barrier this week. 1 long weekend get away trip all HWY total 220 miles. The rest was to/from work (14 miles each way- mostly HWY driving enhanced with some service road detours); plus some short drives to do errands. Tires are at 40/38; current odometer reading 6263 miles. Last 4 tanks were all above 58 MPG; the one prior to the 60 was 58.7. Calculated MPG based on fill-up was 59.8 MPG very close to the MFD reading.

Life time MPG = 53.7 (Apr. 29th 2007 to today) ... may winter cold never come ... AWW ... LOL

Terrific car in every respect and don't forget this awesome site with so many valuable contributors!
Very HAPPY new (3 months) Prius owner,
    Gabe

Thanks Tideland! Yes the gas prices in Ontario have come down in the last week ... but wait until the first sign of hurricane somewhere ... or some other bad news ...

    Looks great!!
We pay about $1.23/L but it varies each week, UK is about double the price here.
    Well done hitting 60mpg.
My best is 4.3l/100km or 54.7mpg(US) or 65.7mpg(UK)

3.94L/100km WOW!!! you did very good!!!

Thanks patsparks! Gas prices here vary also, but instead of weekly it often varies daily. Not that long ago it was more expensive in the morning then at night slide down by as much as 10 cents a litre. Used to then make an 11PM gas run. This went on for months but not lately - the gas price games keep changing

If you can only flatten out those hills ... or how do you only go down hill??? LOL
BTW 53 is still very good - nice job:)

    Thanks Servo!

Initially I was also very disappointed with city mileage. Lot of stop and go with lights not syncronized. Then I found that HWY service roads were much better to P&G; much fewer lights and light traffic. Also on the HWY I found better MPG at around 50 - 54 MPH and at ~60 MPH. On longer HWY trips I just used CC (cruise control).

Short commutes are a killer with the initial 5 mintues of ICE warm-up so I combine short trips when possible.

    Good luck!

Aaagggh!! I seem to be stuck in the mid 50's with 58.7 as my best. I just can't get to 60.

Well, if you have an enclosed garage in your condo, I would imagine an appropriately long and adequately capacitized (wire gauge) extension cord would do the job.

It needs to be one very long extension cord to run up 12 floors to my unit :( ... can't think of a practical way of doing it.

No EV button or EBH ... I've not added any mods but recently inflated my tires to 40/38 (the 60 MPG was with the inflated pressure) ... just before that though had two tanks of 58.7 MPG
